at Allegheny Guy W. Kuhn Invitational

[ Jesse Chiero ]Junior Jesse Chiero (Westerville/South) was leading the pack after the first round of the Guy W. Kuhn Invitational, hosted by Allegheny College on Sunday in Meadville, Pa.

Indiana (Pa.) had the first-round lead with a 292, followed by Allegheny at 294 and Ohio Wesleyan at 295. Rochester was in fourth place with a 299, followed by Denison (301), Wittenberg and Carnegie Mellon (302), Gannon (306), Washington & Jefferson (309), St. Vincent (312), Wooster (314), Westminster (315), Penn State-Behrend (323), Slippery Rock (325), Mercyhurst (338) and Hiram (345).

Chiero shot a first-round 70 to lead all individuals.

Junior Jordan Benner (Beavercreek) was tied for 11th place with a 74, senior Jeff Nieman (Maineville/Cincinnati Moeller) was tied for 18th place at 75, senior Andy Schillig (Pataskala/Licking Heights) was tied for 23rd place with a 76, and junior Tommy Harman (Perrysburg) was tied for 34th place at 77.

The tournament's second and final round was scheduled for Monday.
