at Gordin Collegiate Classic

[ Tommy Harman ]Junior Tommy Harman (Perrysburg) was leading Ohio Wesleyan after the first round of the Gordin Collegiate Classic, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan at Cannon Ridge Golf Club in Fredericksburg, Va.

The tournament annually matches many of the top finishers from the previous spring's NCAA Division III championship tournament.

Methodist was leading the field with a 277, with Huntingdon in second place at 282 and Illinois Wesleyan in third place at 285. Skidmore was in fourth place with a 291, followed by Ohio Wesleyan (294), Transylvania (295), Oglethorpe (297), St. John's (Minn.) (298), Emory (299), Mary Hardin-Baylor (302), St. John Fisher (314) and Wesley (321).

Harman was tied for second place among individuals, firing a first-round 68 along with Methodist's Alex Weir and Huntingdon's J.P. Kircher. The first-round leader was Methodist's Josh Schrader, who carded a 64.

Senior Andy Schillig (Pataskala/Licking Heights) was tied for 12th place with a 72, senior Jeff Nieman (Maineville/Cincinnati Moeller) and junior Jesse Chiero (Westerville/South) were tied for 43rd place at 77 and junior Jordan Benner (Beavercreek) was tied for 52nd place with an 80.

The tournament's second and final round was scheduled for Monday.
