![]() Ohio Wesleyan 95, Kenyon 59 Dec. 10, 2008 After Kenyon's Allen Bediako scored from inside to bring the Lords within 19-15 with 14:16 left in the first half, junior post Brent Pleiman (Russia) returned the favor with a lay-in that started the Bishop run. Freshman wing Tim Brady (Dublin/Jerome) followed with a pair of fast-break lay-ins, senior wing Mitch Noggle (Dublin/Coffman) added a 3-pointer and Holliday converted a 3-point play on a fast break to extend the Ohio Wesleyan lead to 31-15 with 12:02 left in the period. Jay Findlay hit a jumper as the Lords ended the Bishop spurt, and J.T. Knight followed with a fast-break lay-in to make it a 31-19 game at the midway point of the half. The Lords were still within 37-22 on a lay-in by Bryan Yelvington with 7:24 to play when the Bishops closed the half with a 15-3 run that included a 3-pointer by Holliday, a lay-in by sophomore post Andrew Martin (New Albany), a pair of free throws from senior wing Kyle Miller (Delaware/Hayes), a lay-in by sophomore guard Mike Schwartz (Upper Arlington), a jumper from sophomore wing Dillon McBride (Medina) and a Brady lay-in in the closing seconds of the half. Kenyon opened the second half with a pair of Yelvington free throws and a lay-in by Dave Knapke, but the Lords would not score again for nearly 9 minutes. Meanwhile, the Bishops sealed the outcome by scoring 26 straight points. Miller, Holliday, Schwartz and McBride contributed 3-pointers during that run, with McBride's trifecta giving Ohio Wesleyan a 78-29 lead with 11:01 left in the game. Holliday led the Bishops with 22 points, going 8-for-10 from the field, including 5-for-7 from 3-point range. Pleiman followed with 11 points and grabbed a team-high 6 rebounds. Miller dished out a team-leading 6 assists. Yelvington paced the Lords with 13 points, with Knapke and A.J. Clair scoring 10 points apiece. |
