Salisbury 15, Ohio Wesleyan 8

[ Nick Gallagher ]Senior attacker Nick Gallagher (Columbus/Dublin Scioto) and junior attacker Rob Young (Langhorne, Pa./Council Rock South) scored man-up goals to bring Ohio Wesleyan within 4-3, but defending national champion Salisbury pulled away with a 4-0 second-half run and went on to defeat the Bishops in non-conference action on Sunday in Salisbury, Md.

The Sea Gulls jumped to a 3-0 lead on goals by Jake DeLillo, Matt Cannone, and Stephen Krasco and added a man-up goal by Sam Bradman for a 4-0 lead midway through the first period.

Junior attacker Dave Castignola (Dublin/Scioto) put the Bishops on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal, and Gallagher's man-up goal less than a minute later brought Ohio Wesleyan within 4-2 with 6:09 left in the quarter. Young followed with a man-up goal that made it a 4-3 game with 1:25 to play in the period.

Salisbury ended the Bishop run when Connor Burgasser tallied an unassisted goal in the closing seconds of the first quarter, and Kyler Berkman's goal early in the second gave the Sea Gulls a 6-3 lead.

Ohio Wesleyan closed to within 7-5 on Gallagher's goal with 5:07 left in the second, but the Sea Gulls got a goal from Cannone to close out the second and one from Mike Winter to open the third-quarter scoring, then put the game out of reach with a 4-0 run that included a pair of scores by Cannone and single goals by Winter and Sam Bradman.

Gallagher led the Bishops with 2 goals, while Young finished with a goal and an assist.

Cannone led the Sea Gulls with 5 goals and an assist. Winter, Bradman and Mike Von Kamecke each had 2 goals and 2 assists.

Sophomore Jud Hall (Columbus/Upper Arlington) made 12 saves in the Ohio Wesleyan goal.

Johnny Rodriguez stopped 17 shots in the Salisbury crease.
