Gettysburg 11, Ohio Wesleyan 6

[ Kevin McMahon ]Senior midfielder Kevin McMahon (Wilton, Conn.) scored to tie the game at 5-5 early in the third quarter, but 11th-ranked Gettysburg responded with a 5-0 run and went on to defeat Ohio Wesleyan in non-conference play on Wednesday in Gettysburg, Pa.

The Bishops took an early 1-0 lead on a score by senior midfielder Kevin McMahon (Wilton, Conn.) less than 2 minutes into the game, but the Bullets bounced back to take a 2-1 lead on goals by Kyle McGrath and Chris Cahill 31 seconds apart midway through the period.

Ohio Wesleyan evened the game when senior attacker Nick Gallagher (Columbus/Dublin Scioto) scored with 3:13 left in the period, then took a 3-2 lead on a goal by junior midfielder Chris Ehlinger (Radnor, Pa.) goal in the first minute of the second quarter.

After Josh Reichert's man-up goal and Joe Brody's score gave Gettysburg a 4-3 lead with exactly 8 minutes left in the half, the Bishops pulled even when Ehlinger scored off a Gallagher pass to make it 4-4 with 6:00 remaining.

Gettysburg took the lead into the locker room when McGrath scored with :09 left in the half.

Ohio Wesleyan struck back when McMahon again tallied the first goal of the half, evening the game at 5-5 with 12:50 left in the third quarter.

Patrick Koehl scored midway through the third quarter to put the Bullets ahead to stay, and Zach Pucci added a pair of goals before Tommy Kehoe and Josh Reichert tacked on fourth-quarter scores that gave Gettysburg a 10-5 lead with 5:49 left in the game.

Ehlinger led the Bishops with 3 goals, while McMahon finished with 2 goals and Gallagher added a goal and an assist.

Sophomore Jud Hall (Columbus/Upper Arlington) made 13 saves in the Ohio Wesleyan goal.

Reichert led the Bullets with 3 goals, and Pucci and McGrath had 2 goals apiece.

Zach Furshman stopped 9 shots in the Gettsyburg crease.
