Ohio Wesleyan 11, Wooster 5

[ Rob Young ]Junior attacker Rob Young (Langhorne, Pa./Council Rock South) collected a goal and an assist as Ohio Wesleyan outscored Wooster, 5-0, during the second quarter and went on to defeat the Fighting Scots in North Coast Athletic Conference play on Wednesday in Wooster.

Young gave the Bishops a 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal in the second minute of play, but Wooster evened the game when Dan MacVarish scored less than a minute later.

Young tallied another unassisted goal to put Ohio Wesleyan ahead to stay, and that 2-1 lead would hold until midway through the second quarter, when junior midfielder Chaz Narwicz (Yardley, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep) scored an unassisted goal with 7:30 left in the period.

Young added a goal with 6:01 to play, and junior attacker Gavin Cunningham (Rye, N.Y.) followed with a score less than a minute later. Junior attacker Dave Castignola (Dublin/Scioto) tacked on a man-down goal with 2:48 to go, and Young found senior attacker Nick Gallagher (Columbus/Dublin Scioto) for a goal with 1:47 to play that extended the Ohio Wesleyan lead to 7-1.

Junior midfielder Chris Ehlinger (Radnor, Pa.) added a third-quarter goal, senior attacker Karl Zimmerman (Utica, Mich./Brother Rice) tacked on a pair of fourth-quarter goals, and a man-up score by Castignola with 3:33 left in the game wrapped up the Ohio Wesleyan scoring.

Young led the Bishops with 3 goals and an assist, while Zimmerman had 2 goals and 2 assists, and Castignola finished with 2 goals.

Sophomore Jud Hall (Columbus/Upper Arlington) went the distance in the Ohio Wesleyan crease, making 11 saves.

The win was the 100th career victory for Ohio Wesleyan head coach Sean Ryan. He is 100-47 (.680) during his 10 seasons at the Ohio Wesleyan helm.

Mark Weschler led Wooster with 3 goals and an assist.

Corey McGann recorded 7 saves for the Fighting Scots.
