![]() Eleven Bishops Named to May 26, 2009 Sophomore defenseman Tony D'Abarno (Venetta, Pa./Peters Township), junior midfielder Chris Ehlinger (Radnor, Pa.) and senior attacker Nick Gallagher (Columbus/Dublin Scioto) were first-team All-NCAC selections; senior defenseman Matt Frizzo (Birmingham, Mich./Brother Rice) and junior attacker Rob Young (Langhorne, Pa./Council Rock South) were second-team picks; and junior midfielder Craig Aronoff (Potomac, Md./The Bullis School), junior defenseman Lee Catt (Columbus/Upper Arlington), sophomore goalkeeper Jud Hall (Columbus/Upper Arlington), senior midfielder Kevin McMahon (Wilton, Conn.), junior long-stick midfielder Alex Razzolini (East Aurora, N.Y./Iroquois), and senior attacker Karl Zimmerman (Utica, Mich./Brother Rice) were honorable mention picks. D'Abarno, Frizzo, Catt, and Razzolini helped anchor an Ohio Wesleyan defense that allowed 38 goals in conference play and 115 goals on the season. D'Abarno led Bishop defensemen with 33 ground balls this year, while Razzolini collected 26 ground balls and contributed 5 goals and an assist on the offensive end. Frizzo was an honorable mention All-NCAC pick in 2007 and 2008. Ehlinger led Bishop midfielders and ranked fifth on the team in scoring with 17 goals and 9 assists this season. Gallagher ranked second on the team in scoring with 29 goals and 13 assists. His average of 2.80 points per game ranked 10th in the NCAC. Gallagher was a first-team All-NCAC selection in 2008 and an honorable mention pick in 2006. Young led the Bishops in scoring with 32 goals and 13 assists. His average of 3.07 points per game ranked seventh in the NCAC. Young was a second-team all-conference pick for the second straight season. Aronoff scored 13 goals and collected 37 ground balls this season. He was a first-team All-NCAC selection in 2007 and a second-team pick in 2008. Hall ranked second in the NCAC in goals-against average (7.76) and was fourth in the conference in saves percentage (.561). McMahon was named to the all-conference teams as a faceoff specialist. He won 60.7 percent of his faceoffs and scooped up a team-high 56 ground balls this season. Zimmerman ranked third on the team in scoring with 26 goals and 15 assists. He was a first-team All-NCAC pick in 2006. Ohio Wesleyan finished the season with a 10-5 record. The Battling Bishops finished in second place in the NCAC championship race, and advanced to the NCAA Division III playoffs, the 23rd NCAA playoff appearance for Ohio Wesleyan. |
