Seven Bishops Picked to
All-NCAC Men's Soccer Teams

[ Brian Greene ]A total of 7 Ohio Wesleyan University men’s soccer players were named to the All-North Coast Athletic Conference teams, it was announced today.

Sophomore midfielder Brian Greene (Beavercreek), junior back Kevin McGowan (Cincinnati/Oak Hills) and sophomore forward Tyler Wall (Columbus/Upper Arlington) were first-team All-NCAC selections; sophomore midfielder Ryan Harmanis (Hilliard/Davidson) and senior back T.J. Trigg (Westerville/North) were second-team all-conference choices; and freshman forward Matt Bonfini (Dublin/Coffman) and junior back Matt Giannetti (Montclair, N.J.) were honorable mention picks.

Greene ranks fourth on the team in scoring with 7 goals and an assist. His 4 game-winning goals ranks second on the team and is tied for second in the NCAC.

Wall leads the Bishops in scoring with 9 goals and 5 assists, with his 23 points tied for fourth place in the NCAC. Wall was a first-team all-conference pick for the second straight season.

McGowan, Harmanis, Trigg and Giannetti have composed an Ohio Wesleyan defense that has allowed only 20 goals in 23 games and compiled 11 shutouts. Harmanis and McGowan were second-team All-NCAC selections in 2007.

Bonfini ranks second on the team in scoring with 9 goals and 3 assists. His 5 game-winning goals leads the NCAC.

The Battling Bishops are 18-4-1 and will compete in an NCAA Division III sectional tournament on Saturday and Sunday in Swarthmore, Pa. Ohio Wesleyan won the NCAC championship with a 9-0 record, the Bishops' 17th title in the 25 seasons of NCAC competition, and won the NCAC tournament title, sending the Bishops to the NCAA Division III tournament for the NCAA-record 31st time.
