Three Bishops Named to
NSCAA All-Region Teams

[ Tyler Wall ]Three Ohio Wesleyan University men’s soccer players were named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Great Lakes Region teams, it was announced by the NSCAA.

Sophomore forward Tyler Wall (Columbus/Upper Arlington) was a first-team all-region pick, junior back Kevin McGowan (Cincinnati/Oak Hills) was a second-team all-region selection, and sophomore midfielder Brian Greene (Beavercreek) was a third-team all-region choice.

Wall shared the team lead in scoring with 9 goals and 5 assists, including 3 game-winning goals. His 23 points tied for fourth place in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Wall was a second-team all-region pick in 2007.

McGowan helped lead an Ohio Wesleyan defense that allowed only 22 goals in 24 games and compiled 11 shutouts.

Greene ranked fourth on the team in scoring with 7 goals and an assist, and his 4 game-winning goals ranked second on the team and tied for second in the NCAC.

The Battling Bishops finished with a record of 18-5-1. Ohio Wesleyan won the NCAC championship with a 9-0 record, the Bishops' 17th title in the 25 seasons of NCAC competition, and won the NCAC tournament title, sending the Bishops to the NCAA Division III tournament for the NCAA-record 31st time. Ohio Wesleyan advanced to the sectional semifinals (final 16) of the NCAA Division III tournament.
