Ohio Wesleyan 2, DePauw 1

[ Blake Pifer ]Freshman midfielder Travis Wall (Columbus/Upper Arlington) and junior midfielder Blake Pifer (Fleming/Ada) scored goals that gave seventh-ranked Ohio Wesleyan a 2-0 lead, and the Bishops went on to defeat DePauw on Saturday in Greencastle, Ind.

After a scoreless first half, the Bishops took the lead when Wall headed home a corner kick in the 73rd minute.

Pifer scored off a pass from junior midfielder Will Murawski (Alpharetta, Ga./Westerville North) with just over 10 minutes left in regulation time to increase the Ohio Wesleyan lead to 2-0.

DePauw closed the gap to 2-1 when Brian Lawless headed home a crossing pass from Kreigh Kamman with 2:20 remaining in regulation time, but that was as close as the Tigers would get.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot DePauw, 12-7. Junior Richard Ott (Norwalk) had 5 saves in his first start of the season. Ted Jacobi was credited with 10 saves in the Tiger cage.
