Ohio Wesleyan 2, Kenyon 1

Oct. 4, 2008

[ Brian Greene ]Sophomore back Brian Greene (Beavercreek) scored the game-winning goal midway through the second half, giving Ohio Wesleyan a North Coast Athletic Conference win over defending conference champion Kenyon on Wednesday in Gambier.

The win kept the Bishops unbeaten in NCAC play and tied with Wittenberg for first place in the conference title chase.

Ohio Wesleyan took a 1-0 lead when sophomore forward Tyler Wall (Columbus/Upper Arlington) converted a penalty kick in the seventh minute of play.

That margin would hold up through the first half, and into the second half, when Kenyon's Felix Hoffmann connected on a penalty kick, tying the game at 1-1 just over 4 minutes into the second period.

Greene put the Bishops ahead to stay with 23:30 left in regulation time, taking a pass from freshman forward Taylor Kiefer (North Canton/Hoover) and finishing the chance for the go-ahead score.

Kenyon outshot Ohio Wesleyan, 15-10. Junior Richard Ott (Norwalk) finished with 3 saves for the Bishops, while Jamie White had 3 saves for the Lords.
