[ Tyler Wall ]Sophomore forward Tyler Wall (Columbus/Upper Arlington) put Ohio Wesleyan ahead to stay with a first-half goal, and sophomore back Brian Greene (Beavercreek) added an insurance score in the second half as the 16th-ranked Bishops defeated fifth-ranked Wittenberg in North Coast Athletic Conference action on Wednesday in Springfield.

The win clinches the NCAC championship for Ohio Wesleyan, the Battling Bishops' fourth in the last 5 seasons and Ohio Wesleyan's 17th in the 25 seasons of NCAC competition. Ohio Wesleyan will be seeded No. 1 in the upcoming conference tournament and will host a tournament semifinal game on either Tuesday or Wednesday at Roy Rike Field.

Wall staked the Bishops to a 1-0 lead with a hard shot from the corner of the penalty area with 7:36 left in the first half.

Ohio Wesleyan added to its lead in the 74th minute. The Bishops had earned a corner kick, and after a Wittenberg save, junior back Matt Giannetti (Montclair, N.J.) knocked the ball down for sophomore midfielder Ryan Harmanis (Hilliard/Davidson), who played it to Greene for the goal.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot Wittenberg, 12-4. Junior Richard Ott (Norwalk) finished with 1 save for the Bishops, while Michael Lambeck had 6 saves for the Tigers.
