at Carroll Classic

[ David Gatz ]Junior David Gatz (Delaware/Hayes) and junior Kevin Fahey (Delaware/Hayes) each won events to lead Ohio Wesleyan at the first day of the Carroll Classic, hosted by John Carroll University on Saturday in University Heights.

John Carroll was leading the meet with 781 points to 493 for Ohio Wesleyan. Notre Dame was third with 259 points and Urbana scored 31 points.

Gatz won the 100 breaststroke in a time of :58.57 and added a second in the 200 butterfly.

Fahey won the 200 IM in 2:04.40 and finished second in the 100 breaststroke.

The duo also teamed with freshman Jesse Sheldon (Mansfield/Ontario) and junior Nathaniel Cook (Delaware/Hayes) to finish second in the 400 medley relay.

Other standouts for the Bishops included Sheldon, who placed second in the 200 backstroke; freshman Nathan Eckersley (Cleveland/Mayfield), who was third in the 500 freestyle and fourth in the 200 butterfly; and Cook, who finished fourth in the 100 breaststroke.
