2nd of 4 at Carroll Classic

[ David Gatz ]Junior David Gatz (Delaware/Hayes) and junior Kevin Fahey (Delaware/Hayes) won 2 events apiece to lead Ohio Wesleyan at the Carroll Classic, hosted by John Carroll University on Saturday and Sunday in University Heights.

John Carroll won the meet with 1494 points to 1026 for Ohio Wesleyan. Notre Dame finished third with 493 points and Urbana scored 59 points.

Gatz won the 100 and 200 breaststrokes in respective times of :58.57 and 2:09.21. He also finished second in the 200 butterfly.

Fahey won the 200 and 400 IM events in respective times of 2:04.40 and 4:32.11. He also finished second in the 100 breaststroke.

The duo also helped a pair of relay teams to second-place finishes, combining with freshman Jesse Sheldon (Mansfield/Ontario) and junior Nathaniel Cook (Delaware/Hayes) to finish second in the 400 medley relay and with Sheldon and junior Chris Potterton (Needham, Mass.) for a second-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay.

Other standouts for the Bishops included Sheldon, who placed second in the 100 and 200 backstrokes and fourth in the 50 freestyle; Cook, who finished second in the 200 breaststroke and fourth in the 100 breaststroke; freshman Nathan Eckersley (Cleveland/Mayfield), who was third in the 500 freestyle and fourth in the 200 butterfly; Potterton, who finished third in the 400 IM; senior Brian Fahey (Delaware/Hayes), who was fourth in the 200 breaststroke; junior Andrew Sisson (Greensburg, Pa./Greater Latrobe), who placed fifth in the 400 IM; and freshman Evan Huddleson (Westerville/Central), who was fifth in the 100 butterfly.
