Ohio Wesleyan 5, Wooster 4

[ Brandon Luttinger ]Junior Brandon Luttinger (Hingham, Mass.) and freshman Ryan Leslie (Grosse Pointe Park, Mich./Grosse Pointe South) were double winners as Ohio Wesleyan defeated Wooster in the consolation final match of the North Coast Athletic Conference tournament on Saturday in Gambier.

With the win, Ohio Wesleyan finishes fifth in the final conference standings, the Bishops' best finish since 2003, when Ohio Wesleyan also placed fifth.

Ohio Wesleyan swept the 3 doubles flights to take an early lead in the match.

Luttinger and freshman Kevin Kahn (New Albany) defeated Wooster's Pat Grab and Ethan Arenstein by an 8-4 count at No. 1 doubles. Sophomore Scott Hellberg (Sarver, Pa./Pittsburgh Central Catholic) and senior Daniel Thangarajah (Dublin/Scioto) posted an 8-4 win over Chris Collen and Jeremy Dominik at No. 2 doubles, and Leslie and sophomore Zach Weaver (Westerville/South) teamed up to defeat Brad Palanski and Steve Conroy, 8-5, at No. 3 doubles.

The Bishops scored a pair of singles wins to take the match. Luttinger defeated Arenstein at No. 2 singles by scores of 6-2, 6-2. Leslie outlasted Palanski for a 7-5, 7-5 win at No. 6 singles.
