![]() 1st of 4 at OWU Quad Jan. 23, 2009 Ohio Wesleyan won the meet with 359 1/2 points to 112 for second-place Otterbein. Capital finished third with 107 points and Kenyon scored 59 1/2 points. The meet was the first intercollegiate event in Gordon Field House since the facility's refurbishment late last year and was Ohio Wesleyan's first home indoor meet since Feb. 1, 2002. Faris won the shot put and the weight throw with marks of 47-8 and 42-7 respectively. Burke won the long jump and the triple jump with respective efforts of 21-3 1/2 and 45-4 3/4. He also finished fourth in the high jump. Also winning events for Ohio Wesleyan were senior Andrew Bloom (Powell/Worthington Kilbourne), who won the high jump by clearing 6-0 and added a second in the 55-meter hurdles; sophomore Jordon Exeter (Toronto, Ontario/Mercersburg (Pa.) Academy), who won the 55-meter dash in :06.62 and finished second in the long jump; senior Nathan Osborn (Edgerton), who won the 400-meter dash in :51.57; freshman John Batchelder (Powell/Worthington Kilbourne), who won the 800-meter run in 2:00.39; senior Ryan Ellis (Columbus/Dublin Scioto), who won the 200-meter dash in :23.49; and senior David Stefanik (Wooster), who won the 3000-meter run in 8:56.68. The Bishop distance medley relay team of senior Garret Andre-Johnson (Walnut Creek, Calif./Berkeley), Batchelder, junior Christian Schlabach (Wooter/Triway) and Stefanik won its event in 10:45.86. Ellis and Nathan Osborn also helped a pair of relay teams to first-place finishes, teaming with sophomore Sean Patrick (Delaware/Hayes) and Exeter to win the 800-meter relay in 1:31.68, and combining with senior Preston Osborn (Edgerton) and freshman Sharif Kronemer (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) to win the 1600-meter relay in 3:30.63. Other standouts for the Bishops included junior Steve Brown (Redford Township, Mich./Redford), who was second in the 200-meter dash and fourth in the long jump and 55-meter hurdles; freshman Jon Rux (North Oaks, Minn./Mounds View), who placed second in the weight throw and fourth in the shot put; senior Jon Smith (Clyde/Bellevue), who finished second in the pole vault; sophomore Parone Mulrain (Chicago, Ill./Latin School), who finished second in the triple jump; Patrick, who placed second in the 55-meter dash; freshman Kale Booher (Covington/Newton), who was second in the mile run; Preston Osborn, who finished second in the 400-meter dash; freshman Kyle Lemke (Loudonville), who was second in the 800-meter run; sophomore Kody Law (Reynoldsburg), who was third in the 200-meter dash and fourth in the 400-meter dash; freshman Evan Hitchcock (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern), who finished second in the 3000-meter run; freshman A.J. Sayed (Punta Gorda, Fla./Charlotte), who placed third in the triple jump; senior John Wessel (Parma/Valley Forge), who was third in the shot put; senior Brandon Hunter (Twinsburg), who was third in the weight throw; freshman David Franklin (Reynoldsburg), who placed third in the 55-meter hurdles; junior Will Alford (Maple Heights), who finished third in the 55-meter dash; sophomore Jeff Driscoll (Shreve/Triway), who was third in the 500-meter run; and sophomore Kyle Herman (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls), who placed third in the 800-meter run. |
