1st of 6 at Greater Columbus Invitational

[ Jordon Exeter ]Sophomore Jordon Exeter (Toronto, Ontario/Mercersburg (Pa.) Academy) won 2 events and helped a relay team to another first-place finish to lead Ohio Wesleyan to the team title at the Greater Columbus Invitational, hosted by Denison University on Saturday in Granville.

Ohio Wesleyan won the meet with 189 points to 85 1/2 for runner-up Capital. Otterbein finished in third place with 74 1/2 points, followed by Denison (56), Muskingum (41), and Kenyon (25).

Exeter won the 55-meter dash in a time of :06.65 and took the long jump with a leap of 21-1 1/2. He also finished second in the 200-meter dash and third in the triple jump. Exeter combined with senior Ryan Ellis (Columbus/Dublin Scioto), sophomore Sean Patrick (Delaware/Hayes), and senior Nathan Osborn (Edgerton) to win the 800-meter relay in 1:31.00.

Also winning events for Ohio Wesleyan were junior Kyle Faris (Olmsted Falls), who won the weight throw with a toss of 42-0 and finished second in the shot put; Patrick, who won the 200-meter dash in :22.85 and finished third in the 55-meter dash; junior David Burke (Hudson), who won the triple jump with an effort of 44-4 1/4 and tied for third in the high jump; senior Preston Osborn (Edgerton), who won the 400-meter dash in :51.22 and added a fifth in the 200-meter dash; and senior Clay Davis (Dublin/Coffman), who won the 3000-meter run in 9:02.31.

Other standouts for the Bishops included senior Andrew Bloom (Powell/Worthington Kilbourne), who finished second in the 55-meter hurdles and tied for third in the high jump; Nathan Osborn, who was second in the 400-meter dash and fourth in the 200-meter dash; freshman John Batchelder (Powell/Worthington Kilbourne), who placed second in the mile run; senior Jon Smith (Clyde/Bellevue), who was second in the pole vault; Ellis, who finished third in the 400- and 200-meter dashes; freshman Kale Booher (Covington/Newton), who was third in the mile run; freshman Jon Rux (North Oaks, Minn./Mounds View), who placed third in the weight throw; senior John Wessel (Parma/Valley Forge), who was fourth in the shot put and fifth in the weight throw; sophomore Cody Morrison (Caldwell), who finished fourth in the mile run; freshman Kyle Lemke (Loudonville), who was fourth in the 400-meter dash; freshman A.J. Sayed (Punta Gorda, Fla./Charlotte), who finished fourth in the long jump; sophomore Parone Mulrain (Chicago, Ill./Latin School), who placed fourth in the triple jump; senior Brandon Hunter (Twinsburg), who was fourth in the weight throw; junior Steve Brown (Redford Township, Mich./Redford), who finished fifth in the long jump; senior Garret Andre-Johnson (Walnut Creek, Calif./Berkeley), who was fifth in the 800-meter run; and junior Bryce Mathias (Centerburg), who placed fifth in the 400-meter dash.

The Bishop 1600-meter relay team of Lemke, freshman Sharif Kronemer (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook), freshman Ben Andrews (Delaware/Hayes) and sophomore Kyle Herman (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) finished second.
