at Kenyon Invitational

Freshman A.J. Sayed (Punta Gorda, Fla./Charlotte) and junior Bryce Mathias (Centerburg) won 2 events apiece to lead the Bishops at the Kenyon Invitational on Friday in Gambier.

The meet, which included competitors from Charleston, Kenyon, Ohio Wesleyan, Walsh, Westminster, and Wooster, was not scored.

Sayed won the long jump and triple jump with respective efforts of 19-10 3/4 and 42-1/2, and added a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash and a fifth in the 55-meter dash.

Mathias won the 200- and 400-meter dashes in respective times of :23.39 and :52.36.

Also taking first-place finishes for Ohio Wesleyan were junior Will Alford (Maple Heights), who won the 55-meter dash in :06.79, and sophomore Jeff Driscoll (Shreve/Triway), who won the 800-meter run in 2:02.84.

Other standouts for the Bishops included sophomore Kody Law (Reynoldsburg), who was third in the 400-meter dash and fifth in the 200-meter dash; junior Matthew MacKenzie (Franklin, Mass.), who finished third in the 800-meter run; sophomore Nate Goodall (Ostrander/Bishop Watterson), who placed third in the long jump; senior John Wessel (Parma/Valley Forge), who placed third in the shot put; junior Scott Hassee (Norwalk), who was fourth in the high jump; freshman Jon Rux (North Oaks, Minn./Mounds View), who finished fourth in the shot put; and freshman Ben Andrews (Delaware/Hayes), who was fifth in the 800-meter run.
