at Denison Last Chance meet

[ Kyle Faris ]Junior Kyle Faris (Olmsted Falls) won 2 events as Ohio Wesleyan tuned up for next week's North Coast Athletic Conference championship by competing in the Denison Last Chance meet, hosted by Denison University on Friday in Granville.

The meet, which included competitors from Denison, Kenyon, Ohio Wesleyan, Wittenberg, and Wooster, was not scored.

Faris won the discus and the hammer with throws of 141-11 and 146-10 respectively.

Also winning events for Ohio Wesleyan were senior Ryan Ellis (Columbus/Dublin Scioto), who won the 400-meter dash in :50.72 and added a third in the 200-meter dash; sophomore Sean Patrick (Delaware/Hayes), who won the 100-meter dash in :11.19; senior Preston Osborn (Edgerton), who won the 400-meter hurdles in :56.25; senior Nathan Osborn (Edgerton), who won the 200-meter dash in :22.53; junior David Burke (Hudson), who won the long jump with a leap of 22-2 1/4; and senior Jon Smith (Clyde/Bellevue), who won the pole vault by clearing
13-1/4.

The Ohio Wesleyan 400-meter relay team of junior Steve Brown (Redford Township, Mich./Redford), sophomore Jordon Exeter (Toronto, Ontario/Mercersburg (Pa.) Academy), Nathan Osborn, and Patrick won its event in :42.89.

Other standouts for the Bishops included freshman John Batchelder (Powell/Worthington Kilbourne), who finished second in the 1500-meter run; freshman David Franklin (Reynoldsburg), who finished second in the 110-meter hurdles; senior Garret Andre-Johnson (Walnut Creek, Calif./Berkeley), who was second in the 800-meter run; freshman Evan Hitchcock (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern), who placed second in the 3000-meter run; freshman A.J. Sayed (Punta Gorda, Fla./Charlotte), who finished second in the long jump; freshman Jon Rux (North Oaks, Minn./Mounds View), who finished third in the hammer and the shot put; senior Brandon Hunter (Twinsburg), who was third in the javelin and fifth in the hammer; junior Will Alford (Maple Heights), who was third in the 100-meter dash; freshman Sharif Kronemer (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook), who placed third in the 800-meter run; Exeter, who was fourth in the long jump and the triple jump; junior Matthew MacKenzie (Franklin, Mass.), who placed fourth in the 1500-meter run; junior Brandon Cannon (Dublin/Scioto), who finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdles; sophomore Kody Law (Reynoldsburg), who was fourth in the 400-meter dash; junior Bryce Mathias (Centerburg), who was fourth in the 200-meter dash; freshman Chris Ziska (Berea), who was fourth in the discus; freshman Phillip Forsgren (Vienna, Austria/American International), who placed fourth in the pole vault; senior Gary Brenneman (Fredericktown), who placed fifth in the 800-meter run; freshman Matt Haines (Downingtown, Pa./Delaware County Christian), who finished fifth in the 200-meter dash; and senior Bobby Polley (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny), who finished fifth in the javelin.
