![]() at NCAC championship May 1, 2009 After the first day of competition, Ohio Wesleyan was leading the meet with 53 points to 42 for Allegheny. Oberlin was in third place with 39 points, followed by Earlham (26), Wittenberg (25), Wooster (22), Wabash (21), Kenyon (3), and Denison (2). Burke claimed his second consecutive NCAC long jump championship, winning the event with a leap of 22-4 1/2. Also taking All-NCAC honors was senior Jon Smith (Clyde/Bellevue), who finished second in the pole vault. Other standouts for the Bishops included junior Kyle Faris (Olmsted Falls), who finished fourth in the discus and fifth in the shot put; freshman Evan Hitchcock (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern), who placed fifth in the 10,000-meter run; freshman A.J. Sayed ( Punta Gorda, Fla./Charlotte), who finished sixth in the long jump; senior Andrew Bloom (Powell/Worthington Kilbourne), who was eighth in the pole vault; and freshman Chris Ziska (Berea), who placed eighth in the discus. Ohio Wesleyan standouts in the preliminaries of the running events included sophomore Sean Patrick (Delaware/Hayes), who won his heats in the 100- and 200-meter dashes, clocking respective times of :11.18 and :22.45; junior Steve Brown (Redford Township, Mich./Redford), who won his heat in the 110-meter hurdles in :15.09; freshman Kyle Lemke (Loudonville), who won his heat in the 800-meter run in 1:56.64; senior Preston Osborn (Edgerton), who won his heat in the 400-meter hurdles in :55.91; and senior Ryan Ellis (Columbus/Dublin Scioto), who won his heat in the 200-meter dash in :22.42.
