Central State finished third with 66 points, followed by Wilmington (59), Kenyon (37) and Otterbein (28). Mathias won the 60-meter hurdles in :08.98 and took the 200- and 400-meter dashes in respective times of :23.41 and :53.43. Also claiming first-place finishes for Ohio Wesleyan were junior Kyle Faris (Olmsted Falls), who won the shot put with a throw of 47-2 1/4 and added a second in the weight throw; and senior Jon Smith (Clyde/Bellevue), who won the pole vault by clearing 13-6 1/4. Other standouts for the Bishops included sophomore Jordon Exeter (Toronto, Ontario/Mercersburg (Pa.) Academy), who was second in the 60- and 200-meter dashes; freshman A.J. Sayed (Punta Gorda, Fla./Charlotte), who finished second in the long jump; freshman Phillip Forsgren (Vienna, Austria/American International), who placed second in the 400-meter dash; sophomore Sean Patrick (Delaware/Hayes), who finished third in the 200-meter dash and fifth in the 60-meter dash; sophomore Nate Goodall (Ostrander/Bishop Watterson), who was third in the long jump; senior John Wessel (Parma/Valley Forge), who placed third in the shot put; freshman Matt Haines (Downingtown, Pa./Delaware County Christian), who was fourth in the 200-meter dash and fifth in the 400-meter dash; junior Scott Hassee (Norwalk), who was fourth in the 500-meter run; freshman Jon Rux (North Oaks, Minn./Mounds View), who finished fifth in the shot put; and freshman Ben Andrews (Delaware/Hayes), who was fifth in the 800-meter run. |
