12th of 21 at Otterbein Invitational

Senior David Stefanik (Wooster) led Ohio Wesleyan at the Otterbein Invitational, hosted by Otterbein College on Saturday in Westerville. The meet served as the "pre-regional" meet, allowing runners to compete on the course which will serve as the site of this year's NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional meet in November.

Ashland won the meet with 45 points, edging runner-up Case Reserve's total of 52 points. Mount Union was third with 85 points, followed by DePauw (114), Kenyon (189), Heidelberg (190), Otterbein (211), Oberlin (217) and Baldwin-Wallace (218). Manchester rounded out the top 10 teams with 256 points, followed by Rose-Hulman (306), Ohio Wesleyan (324), Wooster (379), Wittenberg (407), Wilmington (414), Mount Vernon Nazarene (449), Capital (479), Thomas More (589), Glenville State (610), Muskingum (644) and Ohio Dominican (668).

Stefanik finished 24th among individuals, covering the 8000-meter course in 25:56.0.

Junior Christian Schlabach (Wooster/Triway) placed 72nd in 26:47.2, freshman John Batchelder (Powell/Worthington Kilbourne) placed 84th in 26:59.4, senior Gary Brenneman (Fredericktown) was 85th in 27:00.6, and freshman Evan Hitchcock (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) completed the Bishop scoring with a 107th-place finish in 27:20.8.

Sophomore John Thatcher (Centerburg) finished 112th in 27:26.7 and senior Clay Davis (Dublin/Coffman) was 120th in 27:34.1.
