13th of 34 at NCAA Division III regional

Senior David Stefanik (Wooster) received all-region honors in leading Ohio Wesleyan at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional championship meet, hosted by Otterbein College on Saturday in Westerville.

Calvin won the meet with 37 points to 88 for Ohio Northern. Mount Union was third with 121 points, followed by Heidelberg (133), Case Reserve (165), Wabash (231), Kenyon (243), Denison (244), and Otterbein (281). Hope rounded out the top 10 teams with 284 points, followed by Oberlin and DePauw (315), Ohio Wesleyan (379) and Baldwin-Wallace (394).

Stefanik finished 25th among individuals, completing the 8000-meter course in 25:44.53. The top 35 finishers were awarded all-region honors.

Senior Clay Davis (Dublin/Coffman) placed 61st in 26:23.11, junior Christian Schlabach (Wooster/Triway) was 87th in 26:38.75, freshman Evan Hitchcock (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) finished 100th in 26:49.71, and freshman John Batchelder (Powell/Worthington Kilbourne) completed the Ohio Wesleyan scoring with a 106th-place finish in 26:53.11.

Sophomore Cody Morrison (Caldwell) placed 124th in 27:11.39 and senior Gary Brenneman (Fredericktown) was 140th in 27:27.12.
