Freshman righthander Lauren McIntire (Marysville/Buckeye Valley) fired 6.0 shutout innings and sophomore outfielder Tara VanVranken (North Canton/Massillon Jackson) drove in 2 runs as Ohio Wesleyan blanked Dominican in the Bishops' season opener on Monday in Fort Myers, Fla.

VanVranken singled in a run in the bottom of the first to give the Bishops a 1-0 lead, and junior outfielder Devon Walker (Baltimore/Watkins Memorial) singled and came around to score for a 2-0 lead in the second.

Meanwhile, McIntire blanked the Stars through 6.0 innings, scattering 5 hits, to pick up her first collegiate win. Freshman righthander Britt Rhea (Mount Vernon) worked a scoreless seventh to complete the shutout.

Allen went 3-for-3 with a run scored, while Walker finished at 2-for-3 with a run scored.
