[ Tara VanVranken ]Sophomore first baseman Tara VanVranken (North Canton/Massillon Jackson) knocked in 4 runs and junior lefthander Rachel Seibel (Johnstown/Johnstown-Monroe) struck out 12 in working the complete game as Ohio Wesleyan defeated Curry on Friday in Cape Coral, Fla.

VanVranken staked the Bishops to a 1-0 lead with an RBI single in the first, and Ohio Wesleyan added to its lead with single runs in the third and fourth frames, the former coming home on VanVranken's infield grounder and the latter scoring on an RBI single by sophomore shortstop Kaylie Titus (East Hampton, N.Y.).

Lauren Tobey launched a solo homer to put the Colonels on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth, but Ohio Wesleyan responded with 4 runs in the top of the sixth to put the game out of reach.

Sophomore catcher Sarah Truchan (Westfield Center/Brunswick) led off with a walk, sophomore outfielder Kayla Gordon (St. Louis, Mo./Mehlville) singled and junior second baseman Emily Bradley (Columbus/Upper Arlington) was hit by a pitch to load the bases.

Titus followed with a 2-run double, and VanVranken delivered a 2-run single to finish off the day's scoring.

VanVranken went 3-for-4 with 4 RBI, while Titus was 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored and 3 RBI.

Amanda Peters was charged with the loss for Curry.
