Ohio Wesleyan 7, Fredonia State 7

[ Krystle Skaziak ]Junior outfielder Krystle Skaziak (Dublin/Scioto) and junior second baseman Emily Bradley (Columbus/Upper Arlington) drove in runs that gave Ohio Wesleyan a 7-5 lead in the top of the eighth, but Fredonia State rallied for 2 runs in the bottom of the inning and the teams played to a 7-7 tie on Saturday in Cape Coral, Fla.

The game was called after 9 innings because of a time limit at the Cape Coral Sports Complex.

Ohio Wesleyan took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third on singles by junior second baseman Devon Walker (Baltimore/Watkins Memorial) and Bradley, with both runners scoring on a double by sophomore shortstop Kaylie Titus (East Hampton, N.Y.), but Fredonia State evened the game with 2 runs in the bottom of the third.

The Bishops and Blue Devils traded runs in the fifth, then Ohio Wesleyan scored twice in the sixth on RBI singles by Skaziak and Bradley to take a 5-3 lead only to see Fredonia push across single runs in the sixth and seventh to send the game into extra innings.

Ohio Wesleyan took a 7-5 lead in the eighth when junior third baseman Rita Cook (Sidney/Fairlawn) was placed on second to start the inning. Freshman catcher Nikka Bonamase (Canfield/Youngstown Ursuline) walked and Walker moved the runners over to second and third. Skaziak followed with a single to score Cook, and Bradley followed with a single to score Bonamase.

Fredonia State came back to score twice in the bottom of the inning, and neither team was able to score in the ninth.

Bradley went 4-for-5 for Ohio Wesleyan, while junior shortstop Sarah Cook (Sidney/Fairlawn) was 2-for-5.

Freshman righthander Lauren McIntire (Marysville/Buckeye Valley) pitched the first 3.2 innings, freshman righthander Britt Rhea (Mount Vernon) came on in the fourth, and junior lefthander Rachel Seibel (Johnstown/Johnstown-Monroe) relieved in the seventh.

Rebecca Zimmerman pitched the complete game for Fredonia State.
