![]() Four Bishops Picked to May 6, 2009 Freshman infielder Ashley Allen (Richwood/North Union) and sophomore outfielder Tara VanVranken (North Canton/Massillon Jackson) were first-team All-NCAC selections, while junior pitcher Rachel Seibel (Johnstown/Johnstown-Monroe) and junior outfielder Amanda Sanders (Lima/Bath) were second-team choices. Allen was named to the all-conference teams as a designated player. She batted .342 with 3 home runs and 18 RBI this season. In conference games, she batted .409 with 1 home run and 8 RBI. VanVranken batted .348 with 3 home runs and 29 RBI. She led the NCAC in walks (20) and ranked fifth in the league in on-base percentage (.456) this season. In conference games, she batted .462 with 1 home run and 10 RBI. VanVranken was a first-team all-conference selection for the second straight season. Seibel was 14-8 with a 2.24 earned run average. She led the league in strikeouts (143) for the second straight season and ranked third in opponent batting average (.241). In conference games, she was 5-5 with a 3.03 earned run average. Last year, Seibel was named NCAC Pitcher of the Year and was a first-team All-NCAC selection. Sanders batted .286 with 2 home runs and 21 RBI this season. In conference games, she batted .318 with 2 home runs and 13 RBI. Sanders was an honorable mention All-NCAC pick in 2007. Ohio Wesleyan finished the season with a 24-16-1 record and tied for fourth place in the NCAC championship race with an 8-6 conference record. The Bishops advanced to the NCAC tournament, where they finished third. |
