[ Alexa Bean ]Sophomore outside hitter Alexa Bean (Columbus/Upper Arlington) led Ohio Wesleyan on the second day of the Hornet Invitational, hosted by Kalamazoo College on Friday in Kalamazoo, Mich.

Ohio Wesleyan took the first set from Defiance, 25-21, before the Yellow Jackets rallied to take the next 3 sets by scores of 25-18, 25-9, and 26-24.

Bean led the Bishops with 10 kills, while senior middle hitter Janna Dagley (Beavercreek) and junior outside hitter Kristin Kovach (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) added 7 kills apiece. Sophomore setter Sarah Marshall (Lima/Senior) had 29 assists. Defensive standouts included Dagley, who led the Bishops with 4 blocks, and junior libero Katie Schlaudt (Holland, Mich.), who had a team-high 14 digs.

In the Bishops' final match of the tournament, Baldwin-Wallace took a straight-set decision by scores of 25-16, 25-22, 25-22.

Bean racked up team bests of 7 kills and 4 blocks, while sophomore outside hitter Stacey Tighe (Lewis Center/Olentangy) added 5 kills and 3 blocks. Marshall led the Bishops with 19 assists, and Schlaudt recorded a team-leading 23 digs.
