[ Tyler Cordell ]Sophomore wing Tyler Cordell (Columbus/St. Francis DeSales) scored 4 points and sophomore guard Pam Quigney (Mentor) added a 3-pointer during a 7-0 second-half run that gave the Bishops the lead, but Allegheny went on a 13-0 spurt and went on to defeat Ohio Wesleyan in North Coast Athletic Conference competition on Saturday in Meadville, Pa.

Cordell had converted a 3-point play and buried a 3-pointer late within a span of 40 seconds late in the first half, tying the game at 25-25.

Allegheny ended the half with a Hilary Collins lay-in and opened the second half with an Emilie Simone lay-in to take a 29-25 lead.

Cordell countered with a lay-in for the Bishops, then Quigney buried a 3-pointer for a 30-29 Ohio Wesleyan lead. After a Gator miss, Cordell hit a jumper to give the Bishops a 32-29 advantage.

The Bishops still led, 34-31, with 16:09 left in regulation time when Allegheny took off on its run, getting lay-ins from Simone, Stephanie Wolf, and Lauren Donahoe to take a 37-34 lead. Jill Gregory followed with a pair of lay-ins and a Laura Magnelli 3-pointer capped the Gator run, leaving Allegheny with a 44-34 lead with 11:08 to go.

Sophomore post Kayla Gordon (St. Louis, Mo./Mehlville) hit a 3-pointer to bring the Bishops within 44-37 with 10:49 left, but Ohio Wesleyan would not come closer than that 7-point margin.

Cordell led the Bishops with 14 points, Gordon added 12 points, and senior post Katie Hamilton (Hilliard/Darby) recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds in 40 minutes of action.

Simone led Allegheny with 15 points, followed by Magnelli with 13, Gregory with 11 and Wolf with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
