Named All-NCAC in Women's Basketball, March 5, 2009 Quigney was a first-team All-NCAC selection, Cordell and Gordon were second-team all-conference choices, and Hamilton was an honorable mention pick. Quigney, a guard for the Battling Bishops, leads the team and ranks third in the NCAC in scoring with an average of 16.0 points per game. She leads the league in free throw percentage (.901) and ranks second in 3-point field goals (1.89/game), seventh in 3-point field goal percentage (.387), 10th in assists (2.75/game), and 15th in field goal percentage (.420). Cordell, a wing player, ranks second on the team and fifth in the NCAC in scoring with an average of 14.4 points per game. She leads the league in assists (4.71/game) and ranks third in assist/turnover ratio (1.14), third in free throw percentage (.841), ninth in steals (1.89/game), ninth in 3-point field goal percentage (.356), 10th in 3-point field goals (1.29/game), and 20th in rebounding (5.3/game). Cordell was named Most Valuable Player of the NCAC tournament this season. Gordon, a post player, ranks third on the team and seventh in the NCAC in scoring with an average of 13.8 points per game. She leads the league in 3-point field goals (2.04/game) and ranks second in 3-point field goal percentage (.445), sixth in steals (1.96/game), eighth in rebounding (7.5/game), 10th in field goal percentage (.439), and 11th in blocked shots (0.79/game). Gordon was a second-team all-conference selection for the second straight season. Hamilton, a post player, ranks fourth on the team and 10th in the NCAC in scoring with an average of 12.7 points per game, and leads the Bishops and ranks third in the NCAC in rebounding with an average of 8.4 boards per game. She ranks fifth in the NCAC in blocked shots (1.22/game) and 12th in free throw percentage (.698). Ohio Wesleyan head coach Nan Carney-DeBord was named NCAC Coach of the Year. It was the seventh Coach of the Year citation for Carney-DeBord, who was previously honored in 1986, 1988, 1992, 1993, 1999, and 2000. Her 7 NCAC Coach of the Year honors ties her for the most in conference history. The Battling Bishops have a 17-11 record going into the NCAA Division III tournament. Ohio Wesleyan tied for third place in the NCAC championship race, then won the conference tournament to claim the NCAC's automatic qualifier. |
