![]() Ohio Wesleyan 25, Morrisville State 20 April 5, 2009 The game, originally scheduled to be played at Morrisville State, was moved to the campus of Hartwick College when Morrisville State's field was rendered unplayable. Porter put the Bishops on the scoreboard just over a minute into the game, and after Jennifer Caffarelli evened things for the Mustangs, it was Porter again, tallying another unassisted goal to kick off a 4-0 Bishop run. Sophomore midfielder Marlowe Mavian (Columbus/Wellington) scored just over a minute later, then Porter converted a free-position shot and junior midfielder Jessica Copeland (Ligonier, Pa./Foxcroft (Va.)) added a score to give the Bishops a 5-1 lead exactly 10 minutes into the contest. Senior midfielder Hannah Mudge (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's School) scored twice during another 4-0 Bishop run, this one extending the Ohio Wesleyan lead to 11-3 with 9:36 left in the first half. Copeland, Mudge, and Mavian added goals to give Ohio Wesleyan a 14-4 lead with 3:21 remaining in the period. The Mustangs rallied with a pair of goals by Caffarelli and another by Sybil Stanton to close to within 15-7 at halftime, and early in the second half, Morrisville State got consecutive scores by Amanda Walter, Stanton, and Caffarelli to cut the deficit to 16-10. Ohio Wesleyan reeled off 3 straight goals of its own, with junior midfielder Abbey Miller (Woolwich, Maine/Morse), Porter, and Mudge providing the scoring. Morrisville State countered with scores by Caffarelli and Stanton, only to see the Bishops respond with goals by Miller and Copeland. The Mustangs chipped away at the deficit, scoring back-to-back goals on 3 more occasions and coming as close as 23-18 on Elizabeth Peck's free-position shot with 9:18 left in regulation time. Miller recorded a pair of unassisted goals less than a minute apart, restoring the Bishop lead to 25-18.
