Ohio Wesleyan 7, Kenyon 5

[ Lauren Rogers ]Junior defender Lauren Rogers (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) and senior midfielder Hannah Mudge (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's School) scored to break a 4-4 tie as Ohio Wesleyan defeated Kenyon in North Coast Athletic Conference play on Tuesday in Gambier.

With the score tied 4-4 at halftime, Rogers rang up an unassisted goal just 26 seconds into the second half to put Ohio Wesleyan ahead to stay.

Mudge followed with an unassisted goal to give the Bishops a 6-4 lead with 18:09 left in regulation time.

Kenyon's Margaret Sherwood scored to bring the Ladies within 6-5 with 5:39 to play, but Mudge added some insurance for Ohio Wesleyan, scoring with 4:13 on the clock to restore the 2-goal margin.

Mudge and sophomore midfielder Marlowe Mavian (Columbus/Wellington) scored to give Ohio Wesleyan a 2-0 lead.

Kenyon rallied with 3 straight scores, getting goals from Meghan Henshall, Alicia Florin, and Katrina Rennie, the latter giving the Ladies a 3-2 lead with 9:02 left in the half.

Junior midfielder Jessica Copeland (Ligonier, Pa./Foxcroft (Va.)) answered with a score to pull the Bishops into a 3-3 tie, and after Henshall scored for Kenyon, Mavian converted a free-position shot less than a minute later to even the score at 4-4.

The Bishop defense took over from there, holding Kenyon to 8 shots during the second half.

Mudge led the Bishops with 3 goals, while Mavian finished with 2 goals.

Freshman Liz Searfos (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) went the distance in the Ohio Wesleyan crease, making 8 saves.

Henshall had 2 goals for Kenyon.

Chase Krueter was credited with 17 saves for Kenyon.
