Wooster 20, Ohio Wesleyan 5

[ Hannah Mudge ]Senior midfielder Hannah Mudge (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's School) scored to give Ohio Wesleyan a 4-3 lead late in the first half, but Wooster scored the next 4 goals to take the lead and went on to defeat the Bishops in North Coast Athletic Conference action on Wednesday at Selby Field.

The Bishops and Fighting Scots traded goals 4 times to open the game, with Ohio Wesleyan taking the lead only to see Wooster respond each time.

Mudge's goal with 8:36 left in the first half broke a 3-3 tie and gave the Bishops their fourth lead of the game, but Wooster answered with a goal by Hillary Darragh exactly 2 minutes later, then Taryn Higgins converted a free-position shot to give the Fighting Scots a 5-4 lead with 6:00 left in the period.

Wooster added scores by Darragh and Madison Carey in the final 80 seconds of the half to take a 7-4 lead at the intermission.

Carly Carey scored a pair of goals and Jill Lee added another as Wooster tallied 3 times in a stretch of just over 2 minutes to stretch its lead to 10-4.

Mudge found sophomore midfielder Marlowe Mavian (Columbus/Wellington) for a score that brought the Bishops within 10-5 with 22:21 left in regulation time, but Wooster pulled away to take the win.

Mudge and Mavian each scored 2 goals for Ohio Wesleyan.

Freshman Liz Searfos (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) went the distance in the Ohio Wesleyan crease, making 7 saves.

Carly Carey led the Fighting Scots with 6 goals, while Darragh and Madison Carey scored 3 goals apiece.

Jamie Dannenberg was credited with 6 saves for Wooster.
