Ohio Wesleyan 20, Oberlin 7

[ Hannah Mudge ]Senior midfielder Hannah Mudge (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's School) scored 3 goals during a 7-0 run that helped Ohio Wesleyan break open a North Coast Athletic Conference win over Oberlin on Saturday at Selby Field.

Senior attacker Tara Porter (North Quincy, Mass./Berkshire School) and junior midfielder Jessica Copeland (Ligonier, Pa./Foxcroft (Va.)) scored goals to give the Bishops a 2-0 lead.

Oberlin answered with an unassisted goal by Alice Zicht less than a minute later, pulling the Yeowomen within 2-1.

Sophomore midfielder Marlowe Mavian (Columbus/Wellington) started the Bishops' decisive run with a goal, and Copeland followed with an unassisted score to make it a 4-1 game.

Mudge added goals off feeds by freshman attacker Lena Knofler (Portland, Ore./St. Mary's Academy) and junior defender Lauren Rogers (Worthington/Thomas Worthington), then Porter and Mudge scored before Copeland capped the run with a goal that gave the Bishops a 9-1 lead with 13:12 left in the first half.

Oberlin's Taylor Fey ended the Bishop run with an unassisted score at the 11:45 mark, but Ohio Wesleyan responded by scoring the last 4 goals of the half, with freshman midfielder Addie Bishop (Grand Rapids/Notre Dame Academy), freshman defender Patty Dansereau (Andover, N.H./Proctor Academy), Rogers and Porter tallying goals to give the Bishops a 13-2 halftime lead.

Mudge added 3 goals during the second half and finished with a team-leading 6 goals. The 6 goals raised her season total to 50, making her the third Ohio Wesleyan women's lacrosse player to score 50 goals in a season. Porter added 4 goals, Copeland scored 3 goals, and Rogers finished with 2 goals and 3 assists.

Freshman Liz Searfos (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) made 1 save, while freshman Lauren Figy (Westfield, Mass.) and junior Nat D'Antonio (White Hall, Md./St. Paul's School) had 2 saves apiece and freshman Maddie Mauk (New Canaan, Conn.) also saw action in the Bishop crease.

Zicht led the Yeowomen with 3 goals, while Fey finished with 2 goals.

Emily Perry stopped 17 shots in the Oberlin goal.
