![]() Ohio Wesleyan 4, Wilmington 1 Sept. 17, 2008 After a scoreless first half, the Bishops wasted little time taking the lead. Senior forward Allie Cozzone (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) ripped a shot at the Wilmington goal, which Quaker keeper Casey McKinney saved, but the rebound went to senior forward Michelle Corbett (Dublin/Scioto), who found the back of the net to put the Bishops on the scoreboard just 1:21 into the second half. Krebsbach set up the Bishops' second goal, crossing the ball from the left side into the middle, where Patton finished off the play from right in front for a 2-0 lead with 31:00 left in regulation time. Patton returned the favor later in the second half, crossing the ball from the right side to Krebsbach, who headed it home to hike the Bishop lead to 3-0. Freshman defender Addie Bishop (Grand Rapids/Notre Dame Academy) finished off the Ohio Wesleyan scoring in the 80th minute, taking a crossing pass from Krebsbach and sending it just inside the right post to make it a 4-0 game. Wilmington averted the shutout when Kimberly Hill's 30-yard blast found the left side of the Bishop goal with :51 remaining. Ohio Wesleyan outshot Wilmington, 20-12. Sophomore Laura VanHoey (Rochester, Mich.) made 5 saves in 84-plus minutes, with sophomore Ella Massie-Schuh (New York, N.Y./Brearley School) finishing up in the Bishop goal. McKinney had 9 saves for Wilmington. |
