Otterbein 5, Ohio Wesleyan 3

Sept. 23, 2008

[ Allie Cozzone ] Senior forward Allie Cozzone (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) and senior forward Michelle Corbett (Dublin/Scioto) scored goals to erase a 2-1 deficit and give Ohio Wesleyan a 3-2 first-half lead, but Otterbein scored 3 unanswered goals during the second half to take a non-conference win on Tuesday in Westerville.

The Cardinals got on the board first when Lauren Capelle fielded a pass from Carly Dent and scored in the seventh minute, but Ohio Wesleyan countered in the 18th minute when Corbett gathered a loose ball in the box and beat Otterbein goalkeeper Tara Carter for a goal.

Less than a minute later, Otterbein re-took the lead as Cara Gale crossed the ball into the box and Capelle chipped a shot over Bishop keeper Laura VanHoey (Rochester, Mich.).

Cozzone evened the game at 2-2 by ripping a 20-yard free kick into the back of the Cardinal net with 20:16 left in the first half, then fed Corbett off a corner kick for a score that put Ohio Wesleyan ahead, 3-2, with 16:48 to play in the period.

Otterbein's Lindsey Rudibaugh tied the game at 3-3 early in the second half, and the Cardinals took the lead on Tara Smith's goal off a corner kick in the 61st minute.

Capelle provided the Cardinals with some insurance just over a minute later, taking a cross from Rachel Degen and scoring to complete a hat trick.

Otterbein outshot Ohio Wesleyan, 22-5. VanHoey finished with 10 saves in the Bishop goal. Carter had 2 saves for Otterbein.
