Ohio Wesleyan 4, Hiram 1

[ Lindsey Patton ] Freshman midfielder Lindsey Patton (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) scored 2 goals, including what proved to be the game-winner, and senior forward Michelle Corbett (Dublin/Scioto) also tallied twice as Ohio Wesleyan defeated Hiram in North Coast Athletic Conference action on Wednesday in Hiram.

Corbett staked the Bishops to a 1-0 lead with a goal 16 minutes into the game, and that was how the first half would end.

Patton scored just under 5 minutes into the second half to increase the Bishop lead to 2-0, and Corbett followed with a goal in the 60th minute to make it a 3-0 game.

Hiram averted the shutout when Melissa Sharpe found the back of the Bishop net with 19:37 left in regulation time, but Ohio Wesleyan responded quickly, with Patton scoring less than 2 minutes later to account for the 4-1 final.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot Hiram, 16-12. Sophomore Laura VanHoey (Rochester, Mich.) had 7 saves in the Bishop goal, while Emily Bristol had 7 saves for Hiram.
