Wooster 146, Ohio Wesleyan 85

Jan. 10, 2009

[ Kendra Klossner ]Junior Kendra Klossner (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley), junior Erin Hanahan (Madison/Perry) and freshman Marina Metzler (Columbia, Md./Hammond) won events for Ohio Wesleyan in a dual meet against North Coast Athletic Conference rival Wooster on Saturday.

The meet was originally scheduled to be a dual meet at Ohio Wesleyan's Pfeiffer Natatorium, but unsafe travel conditions kept the Fighting Scots from leaving their campus, resulting in a "telephone" meet in which each team competed in its own pool and the two sets of results were compared and scored to produce the final results.

Klossner won the 50 freestyle in :26.30 and finished second in the 100 freestyle, Hanahan won both 1-meter diving events with scores of 157.65 and 178.35, and Metzler won the 200 butterfly in 2:19.33.

Other standouts for the Bishops included freshman Morgan Canup (Milford, Mich.), who finished second in both 1-meter diving events; freshman Karen Lee (Hong Kong, China/Diocesan Girls' School), who was third in the 1650 freestyle; freshman Ali Russ (Shaker Heights), who placed third in the 200 freestyle; and freshman Kirstin Mowry (Centerville), who was third in the 200 breaststroke.

The Bishop 400 medley relay team of freshman Jill Simpson (Westerville/North), senior Megan Downing (Mentor/Gilmour Academy), Russ and senior Katie Keleshian (Richmond Heights/Regina) finished second in its event.
