8th of 8 at NCAC Relays

[ Kendra Klossner ]Senior Katie Keleshian (Richmond Heights/Regina), freshman Jill Simpson (Westerville/North), freshman Ali Russ (Shaker Heights) and junior Kendra Klossner (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) posted the best finish by a Bishop relay team as Ohio Wesleyan opened its season at the North Coast Athletic Conference Relays meet hosted by Kenyon College on Saturday in Gambier.

The annual lidlifter of the swimming season, the meet consists of relay events and is scored similarly to the conference championship meet. Denison won the meet with 172 points to 152 for runner-up Kenyon. Allegheny finished third with 124 points, followed by Wittenberg (105), Wooster (103), Oberlin (56), Hiram (48) and Ohio Wesleyan (38). Complete results

Keleshian, Simpson, Russ and Klossner combined to finish 12th in the 200 backstroke relay.

Klossner also teamed with freshman Karen Lee (Hong Kong, China/Diocesan Girls' School), freshman Marina Metzler (Columbia, Md./Hammond) and freshman Rachel Schlosser (Euclid) to finish 15th in the 200 medley relay.

Keleshian and Russ swam on another pair of Bishop relay teams, combining with senior Megan Downing (Mentor/Gilmour Academy) and Schlosser to finish 17th in the 200 freestyle relay, and with Downing and Lee for a 20th-place finish in the 500 freestyle crescendo relay.

Senior Tarenne Ferenchak (Haddonfield, N.J.), freshman Holly Gilbert (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Kennedy) and sophomore Brenna Irrer (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) combined to place 16th in the 1500 freestyle.

Metzler, senior Caitlin Hagen (East Lyme, Conn.), freshman Randi Savage (Delaware/Hayes) and Downing turned in a 17th-place finish in the 200 butterfly relay, and Downing, Simpson, sophomore Marisa Obuchowski (Baltimore, Md./Pikesville) and Russ recorded a 19th-place finish in the 400 IM relay.
