1st of 5 at Carroll Classic

[ Marisa Obuchowski ]Sophomore Marisa Obuchowski (Baltimore, Md./Pikesville) and freshman Marina Metzler (Columbia, Md./Hammond) recorded Ohio Wesleyan's best finishes as the Bishops won the team title at the Carroll Classic, hosted by John Carroll University on Saturday and Sunday in University Heights.

Ohio Wesleyan won the meet with 1191 1/2 points, edging Notre Dame (1170) and John Carroll (1093). Marshall finished fourth with 763 1/2 points, followed by Urbana (60).

Obuchowski finished third in the 200 breaststroke and added a fifth in the 100 breaststroke, while Metzler finished third in the 200 butterfly and tied for fifth in the 100 butterfly.

Other standouts for the Bishops included freshman Karen Lee (Hong Kong, China/Diocesan Girls' School), who finished fourth in the 200 breaststroke; senior Katie Keleshian (Richmond Heights/Regina), who was fifth in the 100 backstroke and sixth in the 500 freestyle; freshman Kirstin Mowry (Centerville), who finished fifth in the 200 freestyle and sixth in the 200 IM; sophomore Brenna Irrer (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer), who placed fifth in the 200 butterfly; junior Kendra Klossner (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley), who placed fifth in the 50 freestyle; senior Megan Downing (Mentor/Gilmour Academy), who finished sixth in the 100 breaststroke; senior Katie Germano (Towaco, N.J./Montville Township), who finished sixth in the 200 butterfly; and freshman Ali Russ (Shaker Heights), who was sixth in the 200 freestyle.

The Bishop 400 freestyle relay team of Mowry, Keleshian, Klossner and Russ finished fourth in its event.
