2nd of 6 at Capital Crusader Invitational

[ Sarah Shinn ]Junior Sarah Shinn (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) won an event and helped a pair of relay teams to runner-up finishes to lead Ohio Wesleyan at the Crusader Invitational, hosted by Capital University on Saturday in Columbus.

Otterbein won the meet with 215 1/2 points to 166 for Ohio Wesleyan. Capital finished third with 140 points, followed by Washington & Jefferson (82), Muskingum (46 1/2) and Kentucky State (38).

Shinn won the 800-meter run in 2:21.66. She combined with junior Ashlie Britton (LeRoy/Painesville Riverside), sophomore Lainey Kekic (Canfield/Western Reserve), and freshman Makinzie Krebsbach (Vadnais Heights, Minn./Totino-Grace) to finish second in the 800-meter relay, and teamed with sophomore Rowena Jones (Shutesbury, Mass./Amherst Regional), sophomore Rachael Newman (Strongsville) and Krebsbach to place second in the 1600-meter relay.

Junior Claire Everhart (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) and sophomore Kat Zimmerly (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) also won events for Ohio Wesleyan. Everhart won the mile run in 5:31.80 and Zimmerly took the 3000-meter run in 11:18.80.

Other standouts for the Bishops included Newman, who finished second in the 800-meter run; freshman Maggie O'Connell (Hingham, Mass), who was second in the 1000-meter run; freshman Emma Lisull (Ann Arbor, Mich./Greenhills), who placed second in the mile run; sophomore Jesi Dackin (Reynoldsburg), who was second in the 3000-meter run; junior Sharon Rymut (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights), who finished second in the weight throw; Kekic, who recorded a third in the 200-meter dash, a fourth in the high jump and a fifth in the 60-meter dash; freshman Allie Nichols (Mansfield/Lexington), who finished third in the mile run; freshman Hannah Phlipot (Van Wert), who placed third in the shot put; Jones, who was fourth in the 200-meter dash and fifth in the 400-meter dash; junior Kara Reiter (Chardon), who finished fourth in the mile run; sophomore Laura Packard (Mount Vernon), who placed fourth in the pole vault; freshman Sam Smyth (Falmouth, Maine), who was fifth in the shot put and the weight throw; and senior Jessica Merrill (Columbia Station/Columbia), who was fifth in the triple jump.
