T8th of 18 at All-Ohio Division III meet

[ Sarah Shinn ]Junior Sarah Shinn (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) recorded Ohio Wesleyan's top individual finish and junior Sharon Rymut (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) set a school record in leading the Bishops at the All-Ohio Division III championship meet, hosted by Otterbein College on Saturday in Westerville.

Ohio Northern won the meet with 115 1/2 points to 84 1/10 for second-place Otterbein. Capital was third with 72 points, followed by Marietta (57 3/5), John Carroll (34), Mount Union (32 1/5), Baldwin-Wallace (31 1/2), and Ohio Wesleyan and Heidelberg (31). Case Reserve rounded out the top 10 teams with 25 points, followed by Wilmington (16 1/2), Oberlin (11), Defiance (10), Muskingum (9), Wittenberg (8 3/5), Wooster (8), Mount St. Joseph (4) and Bluffton (1).

Shinn placed second in the 800-meter run. She also anchored the Bishop 1600-meter relay team, teaming with sophomore Lainey Kekic (Canfield/Western Reserve), sophomore Rachael Newman (Strongsville), and junior Kara Reiter (Chardon) to finish sixth in the event.

Rymut finished seventh the weight throw. Her throw of 44-4 1/4 broke the school record of 44-2 1/2 set by Donielle Albrecht in 2000.

Other standouts for the Bishops included freshman Hannah Phlipot (Van Wert), who placed sixth in the shot put; sophomore Kat Zimmerly (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane), who finished sixth in the mile run; freshman Chelsea Imm (Glandorf/Ottawa-Glandorf), who was seventh in the pole vault; and Newman, who finished seventh in the 800-meter run.

The Ohio Wesleyan distance medley relay team of Reiter, sophomore Rowena Jones (Shutesbury, Mass./Amherst Regional), sophomore Lindsay Dunbar (Marysville), and freshman Emma Lisull (Ann Arbor, Mich./Greenhills) finished fifth in its event.
