at OWU Pentathlon

Sophomore Lainey Kekic (Canfield/Western Reserve) and senior Jessica Merrill (Columbia Station/Columbia) represented Ohio Wesleyan at the inaugural OWU Pentathlon meet on Friday in Gordon Field House.

The indoor pentathlon consists of 5 events: 55-meter hurdles, long jump, shot put, high jump, and 800-meter run. This is the first year that the pentathlon is being contested at the NCAA Division III championships.

Kekic finished fourth with 2496 points, while Merrill was fifth with 2443 points.

Kekic finished the 55-meter hurdles in :10.86, cleared 4-10 1/2 in the high jump, threw the shot 27-6 3/4, went 14-9 in the long jump, and finished the 800-meter run in 2:37.43.

Merrill clocked a :09.96 in the 55-meter hurdles, cleared 4-10 1/4 in the high jump, threw the shot 30- 1/4, went 15-4 1/2 in the long jump, and finished the 800-meter run in 3:00.20.
