at NCAC championship

[ Chelsea Imm ]Freshman Chelsea Imm (Glandorf/Ottawa-Glandorf), freshman Hannah Phlipot (Van Wert), and freshman Sam Smyth (Falmouth, Maine) won All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors as Ohio Wesleyan took the lead after the first day of the NCAC indoor track & field championship meet, hosted by Denison University on Friday in Granville.

Ohio Wesleyan was leading the meet with 40 points to 25 1/2 for second-place Denison and 25 for third-place Allegheny. Oberlin was in fourth place with 20 points, followed by Wittenberg (19), Wooster (17), Earlham (9 1/2) and Kenyon and Hiram (0).

Imm finished second in the pole vault, while Phlipot was second in the shot put and Smyth finished third in the shot put.

Also scoring for Ohio Wesleyan were junior Sharon Rymut (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights), who placed fourth in the shot put; sophomore Lainey Kekic (Canfield/Western Reserve), who finished fifth in the triple jump; sophomore Kat Zimmerly (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane), who finished sixth in the 5000-meter run; junior Ashlie Britton (LeRoy/Painesville Riverside), who was eighth in the triple jump; and junior Emily Washek (Erie, Pa./McDowell), who was eighth in the pole vault.

Junior Sarah Shinn (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) turned in the meet's fastest time in the preliminaries of the 800-meter run, finishing in 2:24.68.

The NCAC indoor track & field championship concludes on Saturday.
