T8th of 18 at All-Ohio championship

[ Sharon Rymut ]Junior Sharon Rymut (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) and sophomore Kat Zimmerly (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) won events to lead the Bishops at the All-Ohio Division III championship meet, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday at the George Gauthier Track.

Ohio Northern won the meet with 87 points to 82 1/2 for runner-up Marietta. Heidelberg was third with 80 points, followed by Baldwin-Wallace (79 1/2), Otterbein (69), Capital (67), Mount Union (55), Ohio Wesleyan and Oberlin (50 1/2). Defiance rounded out the top 10 team finishers with 27 points, followed by Muskingum (26 1/2), Wittenberg (25 1/2), Wooster (22 1/2), John Carroll (22), Wilmington (12 1/2), Denison (11), Kenyon (6), and Bluffton (5).

Rymut won the discus with a throw of 128-7 and added a fourth-place finish in the hammer.

Zimmerly won the 3000-meter steeplechase in a time of 11:37.20.

Freshman Chelsea Imm (Glandorf/Ottawa-Glandorf) tied for fourth place in the pole vault, clearing 10-6 to break her own school record of 10-4 set earlier this season.

Other standouts for the Bishops included junior Sarah Shinn (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane), who finished fourth in the 800-meter run; freshman Emma Lisull (Ann Arbor, Mich./Greenhills), who placed fifth in the 3000-meter steeplechase; freshman Hannah Phlipot (Van Wert), who finished fifth in the shot put; sophomore Jesi Dackin (Reynoldsburg), who was fifth in the 10,000-meter run; sophomore Christa Cocumelli (Dublin/Bishop Watterson), who was seventh in the 100-meter hurdles; and sophomore Rachael Newman (Strongsville), who finished eighth in the 800-meter run.

The Bishop 400-meter relay team of junior Ashlie Britton (LeRoy/Painesville Riverside), Shinn, Cocumelli, and sophomore Lainey Kekic (Canfield/Western Reserve) finished eighth.
