2nd of 6 at Capital Purple & White Invitational

Freshman Hannah Phlipot (Van Wert) won an event to lead Ohio Wesleyan at the Purple & White Invitational, hosted by Capital University on Saturday in Columbus.

Capital won the meet with 219 points to 87 for Ohio Wesleyan. Central State finished third with 51 points, followed by Wilmington (44), Kenyon (8) and Denison (5).

Phlipot won the shot put with a throw of 37- 1/4.

Other standouts for the Bishops included senior Jessica Merrill (Columbia Station/Columbia), who was second in the 60-meter hurdles, third in the high jump and fifth in the 200-meter dash; sophomore Lainey Kekic (Canfield/Western Reserve), who placed second in the 400-meter dash, third in the long jump and fifth in the 60-meter dash; freshman Chelsea Imm (Glandorf/Ottawa-Glandorf), who finished second in the pole vault; junior Sharon Rymut (Broadview Heights/Brecksville-Broadview Heights), who placed second in the weight throw; freshman Sam Smyth (Falmouth, Maine), who was third in the shot put; sophomore Christa Cocumelli (Dublin/Bishop Watterson), who was third in the 60-meter hurdles; junior Amber Alegria (Tucson, Ariz./Salpointe Catholic), who finished fourth in the 400-meter dash; and junior Ashlie Britton (LeRoy/Painesville Riverside), who was fifth in the 60-meter hurdles.
