Everhart, Schmelzer, Bishop Team Receive
All-Academic Cross Country Honors

[ Claire Everhart ]Ohio Wesleyan University junior Claire Everhart (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) and senior Leah Schmelzer (Marion/Pleasant) were named to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's All-Academic teams, it was announced by the USTFCCCA.

Everhart majors in international studies and Spanish, while Schmelzer is a biology major.

A total of 221 Division III female student-athletes from 103 institutions were named to the 2008 USTFCCCA Cross Country All-Academic teams. To be considered for the award, a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average and must finish in the top 25 percent of the field at their respective NCAA regional meet.

The entire Ohio Wesleyan squad also was honored by the USTFCCCA as one of 156 Division III women's teams to receive All-Academic Team honors for the 2008 season. To be considered for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, a team must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA regional meet, and must have a team cumulative grade point average of at least 3.10.
