8th of 34 at NCAA Division III regional

Sophomore Kat Zimmerly (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) won all-region honors in leading Ohio Wesleyan at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional championship meet, hosted by Otterbein College on Saturday in Westerville.

Calvin won the meet with 42 points to 84 for Case Western Reserve. DePauw was third with 105 points, followed by Kenyon (167), Baldwin-Wallace (173), Oberlin (224), Otterbein (226) and Ohio Wesleyan (249), with Hope (281) and Ohio Northern (287) rounding out the top 10 teams.

Zimmerly finished 23rd among individuals, covering the 6000-meter course in 23:24.08. The top 35 finishers were accorded all-region status.

Senior Leah Schmelzer (Marion/Pleasant) finished 43rd in 23:52.26, followed by junior Claire Everhart (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) in 44th place in 23:53.09.

Freshman Allie Nichols (Mansfield/Lexington) was 53rd in 24:04.82 and senior Laura Binkley (Columbus/Bishop Watterson) completed the Ohio Wesleyan scoring with an 88th-place finish in 24:41.92.

Freshman Emma Lisull (Ann Arbor, Mich./Greenhills) was 94th in 24:50.58 and sophomore Jesi Dackin (Reynoldsburg) finished 136th in 25:33.01.
