Junior attacker Christa Cocumelli (Dublin/Bishop Watterson) scored off an assist by junior attacker Lilly Jianas (Shawnee Mission, Kan./Pembroke Hill) to bring the Bishops within 2-1, but Nazareth held on for a non-conference win over Ohio Wesleyan on Sunday in Pittsford, N.Y.

Nazareth broke the scoreless tie in the 23rd minute. Senior goalkeeper Krista Murray (Rochester Hills, Mich./University Liggett) had stopped a Nazareth shot, but Kailee O'Hara picked the rebound off Murray's pads and stuffed the ball into the cage for a 1-0 Flyer lead.

The Flyers extended their lead to 2-0 in similar fashion, with Kelly Flanagan scoring a rebound goal in the 43rd minute.

Ohio Wesleyan closed to within 2-1 when Jianas fed Cocumelli for a score with 14:20 left in regulation time, but the Bishops could not push across the tying goal.

Nazareth outshot Ohio Wesleyan, 23-12. Murray was credited with 13 saves, while Kelsey Evans had 8 saves for the Golden Flyers.
