Ohio Wesleyan 2, Denison 1

Sophomore attacker Macie Miller (Kettering/Fairmont) knocked home the game-winning goal in overtime to lift Ohio Wesleyan over Denison in North Coast Athletic Conference action on Wednesday in Granville.

Junior attacker Christa Cocumelli (Dublin/Bishop Watterson) fired a shot which was blocked by Denison keeper Brittany Benson, but Miller pounced on the rebound and scored 2:10 into the extra session.

Ohio Wesleyan had taken a 1-0 lead on a penalty stroke by Cocumelli in the fifth minute.

The Big Red evened the game at 1-1 with less than 10 minutes left in regulation time, also on a rebound goal. Molly McCue took the original shot for Denison, with senior goalkeeper Krista Murray (Rochester Hills, Mich./University Liggett) there for the save, but Catie Merrick got to the rebound and scored.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot Denison, 9-7. Murray was credited with 2 saves, while Benson finished with 4 saves for the Big Red.
